"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm has expressed his interest in playing superhero Batman, if the script is right enough for him.

Talking to Graham Bensinger in an interview, the 47-year-old actor talked about stories of him taking on the role of Caped Crusader in a new film.

"I've had rumours about that since probably, since season one of 'Mad Men'. I've never... I've never had a conversation with anybody about it. Literally. And I've sat in the rooms with all these guys.

"Never been offered anything. I think the internet wants what it wants. Can't control the internet," Hamm said.

The actor said he has always been a comic book fan and has thought about playing the role on screen.

"I'm a huge comic book fan, always have been. I've read comic books since I was, you know, nine or younger. And I'm pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like them when they're done well," Hamm said.

"So there's a lot of interesting things out there. But it depends on the story, you know? It all comes down to the story," he added.

There is hope for Hamm as it was reported on Wednesday that actor Ben Affleck, who currently plays Batman in the DC Extended Universe, is said to be on his way out from the franchise.
