Scratch golfer Hitesh N Joshi is confident of producing a good show at the Mulberry Woods KGA Club qualifier of Toyota IGU National Club Challenge here tomorrow.
Hitesh, father of the rising star Khalin Joshi, will play in the 0-6 handicap category, while around 200 members above the age of 18 (Men & Women) will participate in five handicap categories which are 0-6 7-10 11-15 16-20 and 21-24.
The individual winner in each Handicap category will automatically be selected to represent the club team while the sixth team member and captain of the team will be nominated by the club, KGA President M P Paul said in a statement.
The team thus selected go to the second stage, where the South Zone finals will take place at Eagleton Golf Resort, here on January 18, Paul said.
At the 18 hole zonal finals, the best five 18 hole total stableford scores of the six players will make the team score and the top two teams from each of four zonal finals will qualify for the third stage of the national finals, he said.
The Club qualifiers, zonal finals and national finals will be played in individual Stableford off 3/4th handicap allowance, Paul said.
As one of the largest national championships by Indian Golf Union, the inaugural edition of the Toyota IGU National Club Challenge is involving around 5000 golfers from 25 key clubs across the country.
"It's a great format and being the first of its kind would fully mature with great excitement once the zonal rounds and the national rounds kick start. We all at Mulberrywoods are very excited to sponsor the KGA team and feel confident of being at National finals," Saran Developers Director Rajiv Sarda said.
