It produced 895,000 tonne flat products during the month, up 12 per cent compared to 796,000 tonnes in the same month last year. Production of long products, however, came down 7 per cent to 173,000 tonnes compared to 186,000 tonnes a year earlier.
Flat products are mainly used in automobile and consumer durables sectors while long products find application in the construction sector. In the first three months of present fiscal, JSW Steel produced 3.1 mn tonne steel, reporting a growth of 8 per cent over the April-June period of last fiscal.
