The TV series will have a female hero instead of a male in the original movie, reported Aceshowbiz.
The upcoming follow-up to the 2008 adaptation of Steven Gould's novel about a young man, who is capable of teleporting, has got a pilot order from YouTube Red.
Liman is attached to helm and executive produce the project, while Jeffrey Lieber will write the script.
Production is scheduled to start before the end of year.
It's unclear if any of the original cast that include Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Samuel L Jackson and Jamie Bell, will return for the TV sequel.
