In a letter to Justice Kaul today, he referred to some news reports and said the media has tarnished his image by stating that "I resorted to threats in my letter to your Lordship"
"I would be the last person to threaten Your Lordship, or any others for that matter. So let this statement of mine be final to obliterate any aspersions that may be cast against me in this fashion.
Justice C.S. Karnan referred to the issue of judicial assignments and said he had only intended to change the Chief Justice's view had "in no way meant" to threaten him.
He said the word "threat" would be applicable to an act of a person only if he was going to act against any person out of law and cause injustice.
"On the contrary if a person is going to initiate a legal action in accordance with law, it is not a 'threat'. In the present instance, I informed my Lord the Hon'ble Chief Justice about initiating legal action as per law and as such, I am not in any way threatening my lord the Hon'ble Chief Justice and my act was in total conformity with jurisprudence," Justice Karnan said.
