A group of four boys was playing a game of 'seven stones' in a local park during the afternoon when an argument broke out over the ball, police said.
Their argument was sorted but around 7.30 PM, while returning to their homes, they again had a war of words during which a juvenile stabbed one of them with a kitchen knife, and also attacked the other two, police said.
The boy succumbed to injuries while the other two escaped with minor injuries.
Locals gathered at the spot and one of them made informed police. The juvenile was apprehended from the area within an hour of the incident, police said.
The accused in conflict with law has been sent to a juvenile home, DCP (East) Omvir Singh said.
