The music maestro, a pioneer in music therapy in Kerala, was at the hospital today as part of the Arts and Medicine project, organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with the Mehboob Memorial Orchestra.
"No one is a patient. Disease is just a condition of the body and we should not be fearful of this. Music, whether you like it or not, should be ingested like medicine. It has the power to enhance the effectiveness of any kind of medication," he said.
Later, Kaithapram, along with his son and wife, visited cancer patients at the hospital. Dr Mohan of Oncology Department, introduced the patients to the maestro, who had a lively chat with them.
He advised the hospital inmates as well as the bystanders to listen to and savour pure mellifluous music, which can increase the oxygen content in blood.
