Kala Ghoda, a neighbourhood in south Mumbai that has become a synonymous with festive mood over a period of decades, got a new statue of a horse at the Kala Ghoda chowk today.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the statue that is facing the David Sassoon Library.
Shrihari Bhosale is the sculptor of the statue.
The first statue at the site was of King Edward VI who was also known as Prince of Wales. It was a statue of a king riding the horse. It was relocated to Byculla zoo some 50 years ago.
With this, the horse has returned to the cosmopolitan south Mumbai, which is set to host its iconic Kala Ghoda festival from the first week of February.
