Kalam voices concern about maternal, infant mortality rates

Former president A P J Abdul Kalam today expressed his concerns about maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) in the country.
Inaugurating a medical facility here on Sunday, he said that the World Health Organisation has reported that India faces a high IMR and MMR. He asked the medical fraternity to take up advanced research to prevent as well as reduce mother and infant mortality.
He asked doctors to serve both rich and poor equally without any discrimination.
