Karna govt hikes stipend for PG medical students

Meeting the demand of PG students and interns working at various government medical college hospitals across the state, Karnataka Cabinet today decided to increase their stipend.
The cabinet decided to increase the stipends of Post-Graduate students by Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000 (first year students), Rs 35,000 (second year) and Rs 40,000 (third year), Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra told reporters here.
The students and interns have been protesting across the state demanding hike in their stipend, which was not done for the past four years.
The cabinet also decided to hike the stipend of students working at government super speciality hospitals from Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000, Jayachandra said.
The cabinet approved setting up of Aerospace Common Finishing Facility (ACFF) in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 93 crore out of which the Centre would spend Rs 47.43 crore, he said.
