Karnataka Government would consult legal experts on the proposal made by several organisations for the surrender of Naxals and dropping of cases against them to facilitate it, Home Minister K J George said today.
George, who visited the Naxal-infected areas in Agumbe near Theerthahlli in this district and examined the preparedness of police and facilities provided to villagers, also asked Naxals to drop their armed struggle and join the mainstream.
He said Naxal menace had been controlled by Anti Naxal Squad personnel who have been performing combing operations regularly in the hilly and forest tracks. The personnel will be provided all facilities besides latest gadgets, he said.
The Minister said more facilities are on the cards for the police personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operations in this Malnad region of Western Ghats and 700 police sub-inspectors would be recruited shortly.
