Kasturirangan report: UDF, KC(M) to observe hartal in Idukki

Congress-led UDF opposition and Kerala Congress (M) have called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal here tomorrow in protest against the "delay" by the Centre in issuing final notification of Ecologically Fragile Land under Kasturirangan report for preservation of Western Ghats.
Besides Idukki district, the hartal would also be held in some border panchayats like Melukavu, Poonjar, Koottikkal, Thikkoyi and Thekkekkara in neighbouring Kottayam, party leaders said.
The hartal would be from 6 am to 6 pm, UDF district committee here said.
The date for expiry for the draft notification of the Western Ghats report was March 4.
