Hudson, who followed her mother into the acting business, says that the yesteryear actress, 67, encouraged her to focus on sons, Ryder, nine and 20-month-old Bingham because that's where she would find happiness, reported Glamour magazine.
"I have always been fiery, I go after things," said Hudson, 33.
"But what I learned from my mother is to step back and actually experience things that are happening. I always remember her saying there's only one thing in life she refused to fail at � raising her children. It just shows you it's very possible to do the thing that makes you happy and still raise a wonderful family," she added.
