Pakistani police today claimed to have arrested a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban in the city, who was plotting to carry out attacks on naval installations and government offices.
Amir Sahab was arrested with the help of intelligence agencies, a police official said.
"Amir Sahab is a key commander of the Taliban and belongs to the Mullah Fazlullah group from Swat and was arrested from Kemari area," the official said.
He said Sahab was also leading the Taliban operations here.
"He was mobilising a team to collect funds and to carry out targeted terrorist activities on Naval installations and government offices," he said.
According to police officials, the TTP Karachi head has served in jail in connection with a murder case previously.
The Taliban have killed more than 120 people in election-related violence since April.
