Actor Himanshu Malik is making his debut as a director with a full length feature film, which is an extension of his 45-minute project "Quod Erat Demonstrandum".
Malik a former model started his acting career with "Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love" (1996), but received recognition only later for his roles in "Tum Bin" (2001) and "Khwahish" (2003) with Mallika Sherawat.
He has completed the film, a quirky story based in urban Mumbai. And now he is working to turn this into a full length feature film.
As the film was processing Malik realised that he wanted to expand the beautiful story of "QED" into an approximately two hour-long feature film.
"We got a good response to the short film and decided to turn it into a feature film. We are still working at script level. The film is set in urban India, where capitalism has crashed into traditionalism," Malik told PTI.
He plans to make the film with the same lead cast since there is a comfort level with them and they understand the story as well.
The film had Rashaana Shah, who had done films like "Kal Kissne Dekha", "Meenaxi: Tale of 3 Cities" and others, Pravishi Das who has acted in "Turning 30" and Amit Sial of "Love Sex Dhokha", "Phas Gaye Re Obama" fame.
The film is expected go on floors by this year-end.
Himanshu never thought he would turn director.
"I feel it is the right time for me to direct films as today all kind of movies are being made. Audience have become smarter and then will only watch good films, they will not take crap," he said, adding, he has not taken any formal training in direction or assisted anybody.
