Kidnapped boy rescued, juvenile among 3 nabbed

With the arrest of two persons and the apprehension of a juvenile, police claimed to have rescued a seven-year-old boy kidnapped from near his home in northwest Delhi.
The kidnapping plan was hatched by a jilted lover of the victim's aunt to teach his maternal grandfather a lesson, said Vijayanta Arya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-I (Northwest).
The child's maternal aunt had been compelled by her family to break up with the accused and he wanted to exact revenge on the woman's father.
He roped in his friends by promising them to give the money which they would get as ransom, the police officer said.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he didn't kidnap the child for ransom.
Around 8 PM on February 25, the accused persons reached outside the boy's house near Raja Park in northwest Delhi on a white scooty.

One of them misled the child, who was playing with his friends, by asking him to come with them as they will take him to his maternal uncle for a party.
The child easily believed him and sat on the scooty. The other two then took him to a room in Tri Nagar.
Around 7 AM the next day, one of the accused called the child's mother from a PCO booth at New Delhi railway station and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh for the child's release.

The caller also told her that he would call her around 3 PM to let her know the place and the mode of payment.
Extensive search was conducted in the neighbourhood areas based on the description of the accused and the victim.
The mother informed police that she doesn't live with her husband. It was also found that the child's maternal aunt had ended her relationship with a man due to family pressure, she said.
Based on call detail records and local intelligence, the accused was identified as Mohd Kapil, a resident of Shakurpur.
He was arrested, along with Hasan, and a juvenile was apprehended.
