Labourer arrested for killing woman

A 26-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly killing a woman with whom he had an affair and dumping the body in a well in a jungle near Tarsingi in Ganjam district of Odisha, the police said.
The accused, a daily labourer identified as Krushan Pradhan, was nabbed from his house at Tarsingi, while the body of the deceased was recovered from an abandoned well, they said.
A sharp-weapon used to kill the 25-year-old woman was also recovered, said inspector-in charge, Tarsingi police station Biswajit Nayak.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation was on, Nayak said adding both were having an affair for about 18 months and the man was suspected to have committed the crime when the woman pressed for marriage.

On Thursday, the accused invited the girl to the nearby jungle and when she reached there he allegedly killed her with the sharp weapon and dumped the body in an abandoned well, police.
The incident came to light when the villagers found the body of the woman floating in the well. The family members of the woman and the villagers were searching for her since Thursday, the police added.
