Addressing a public meeting, Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne said both Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have agreed in principle to effect changes to the Cabinet.
"There will be a reshuffle soon," Senaratne said without giving any reason for the reshuffle which was speculated to be done before the Vesak Day celebrations.
Wickremesinghe's United National Party (UNP) and Sirisena's Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) are in the government of unity despite their long rivalry since the independence from Britain in 1948.
A section of the SLFP who support the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa are in opposition. The SLFP's Sirisena faction and UNP share Cabinet positions following an agreement for the unity government.
Analysts said it would be difficult for both leaders to agree on an arrangement to the satisfaction of both parties in sharing portfolios.
