Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today recommended suspension of two senior doctors of Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, over the delay in providing ambulance service to former Chief Minister late Hukam Singh.
Vij announced the decision to recommend suspension of PGIMS Rohtak Director Rohtas Yadav and Senior Prof Dhruv Choudhary, after receiving a probe report from Pradeep Kasni, Director General and Secretary of the Medical Education and Research Department.
On February 26, Hukam Singh (89) who was the Chief Minister of the State during 1990-91, passed away at a private hospital in Gurgaon. Earlier, Singh was admitted to the PGIMS in Rohtak on February 12 for an ailment.
Two days after his death, Vij had ordered probe into the circumstances after Singh's family had alleged that they had to wait for more than three hours for an ambulance to shift the former CM to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon from PGIMS Rohtak.
"A delay of three hours in providing the ambulance is simply unacceptable. If this can happen with a person, who has served as Chief Minister of the state, imagine what can then happen to a common man," Vij said on the sidelines of the ongoing Budget Session of the Assembly.
"It had also come to light that senior officials of the Rohtak medical institute were busy in procuring computers," the minister added.
The minister had earlier said that he was "not satisfied" with the inquiry report sent by the Rohtak PGIMS director after Singh's family levelled the allegations of negligence.
The state government had then asked Pradeep Kasni to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
Dr Rohtas Yadav had earlier maintained that there was no delay in providing the ambulance to the former CM.
