Amritsar District court lawyer Vineet Mahajan, accompanied by security guards provided by police, was travelling in his car in the city last night when the gunmen shot at him.
He escaped unhurt as two of the six bullets fired at him, hit his car, he said, adding that attackers fled on their bike as the security guards took position to retaliate.
Police said that an FIR has been lodged under section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder) and sections of Arms and Ammunition Act against the two gunmen.
After the last attack on Mahajan on May 10, a criminal case was registered against 10 people, including BJP councillor Prabhjit Singh Rataul.
Amritsar MP Amarinder Singh (Congress) condemned the attack on Mahajan, also a Congress leader, saying he was being targeted deliberately as he had exposed a senior BJP leader for having dual votes.
