A group of lawyers today allegedly clashed with police personnel, deployed at the Rohini district court complex in outer Delhi, after they refused entry to an advocate who claimed to have come to appear in a personal case, police said.
According to police, lawyer Gaurav Suneja, who was in casuals, tried to enter the court premises through gate number five but was stopped for frisking by police personnel and denied entry after a blade was recovered from him.
The lawyers, however, claimed that Gaurav was in casuals as he had to appear in a personal case in the court and said "no blade was recovered from him".
After Suneja was stopped from entering the court, he allegedly called his colleagues. A large number of lawyers arrived there and a heated exchange of words which soon turned into a scuffle with police personnel, in which a few people from both sides sustained minor injuries.
Later, senior police officials reached the spot and pacified both the parties.
Meanwhile, Rohini Court Bar Association executive member Tarun Shokeen alleged a complaint was lodged at Prashant Vihar police station but no FIR was registered.
In protest against police action a strike will be called tomorrow, he added.
