Lecturer Jigme Tsultim, a resident of Gangtok, was found dead in his residential quarter at Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS), Choglamsar, in Leh, 424 km from here, on March 19, they said.
"The blind murder case was cracked with the arrest of nine accused," a police spokesman said.
He said additional station house officer of Leh police station Inspector Stanzin Dorjey conducted the investigation of the case and after working out all possible angles zeroed in on two suspected youths from Pyang village of Leh.
He identified the arrested accused as Tundup Namgail, Thinles Nima, Rinchen Nurbu, Padma Stanzin and Tundup Norbu (all residents of Leh) and Chosphel Dorhey, Rigzin Tamchos and Tundup Wangyal (all residents of Kargil).
"The case is still under investigation. Revealing anything more right now will hamper our progress," the spokesman said.
