An elderly woman was killed on Saturday after being attacked by a leopard in Motichur range of Rajaji Tiger Reserve here, police said.
The half-eaten body of 65-year-old Fyola Devi was recovered from the spot after the leopard ran away hearing gun shots fired in the air by forest department personnel to scare away the big cat, Rajaji Tiger Reserve Director Prasanna Kumar Patra said.
The woman, a resident of Raiwala, was assaulted by the leopard when she was grazing her cattle in Motichur range, Patra said.
In Motichur, over two dozen people have been killed by leopards over the last six years.
