The "Independence Day: Resurgence" actor was just 22 when he popped up the question to 19-year-old Miley back in 2012, reported E! online.
"I don't think that was impulsive. That was a well thought-out idea," Hemsworth said when asked if his 2012 proposal was an "impetuous" act.
Liam split from Miley in 2013 before they rekindled their romance earlier this year.
Though neither of them have confirmed or denied anything about their current status, Cyrus posted a photo earlier this week wearing a tshirt with "Hemsworth" printed across the back.
