Light to moderate rains lash U'khand, major rivers on spate

Major rivers of Uttarakhand, including Ganga in Haridwar, are flowing close to the danger mark as light to moderate showers lashed various parts of the hilly state with Mussoorie recording the maximum rainfall at 48mm.
According to state Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre (DMMC), light to moderate showers occurred at several parts of the state while the weather remained relatively dry at isolated areas.
The state capital Dehradun witnessed a bright sunny morning but as the day advanced, the sky was overcast with clouds, resulting in heavy downpours. The city received 33.7 mm rainfall today, Met office said here.
Besides this, several areas in the state received scattered rainfall.

Due to rains, major rivers of the state continued to be in spate, with Ganga in Haridwar flowing near the red mark, officials said.
Locals staying near the banks of the river have been alerted in view of the rise of its water level, they said.
Meanwhile, water level of rivers like Yamuna, Sharda and are also rising during its courses at several places in the state.
