A Jaisalmer-bound bus hit Sajjan Singh, a peon in a nearby school, while he was crossing the road, they said.

Singh was admitted to a hospital where doctors said he was in a stable condition.

Angry over the incident, the locals pelted stones at the bus, deflated its tyres and blocked road traffic.

They damaged some flower pots at the entrance gate of the school, police said.

The locals were demanding financial assistance for the injured peon.
