Residents of Chaitanya Vihar of Vrindavan today met Mathura District Magistrate and demanded closure of liquor shops in the area and surrounding places.
The residents met DM Rajesh Kumar and demanded that liquor shops in nearby areas be shut, said Pradeep Banerjee, Secretary of Chaitanya Vihar Welfare Society.
An agitation would be launched if the administration fails to ensure immediate closure of the shops and ban illegal alcohol sale, locals said.
For the past three days, locals along with some saints have been protesting outside the liquor shop in Chaitanya Vihar area.
