Jaya Shree Textiles, a unit of Grasim Industries Ltd, today said it has issued a notice for lockout at the Rishra factory.
The lockout, which comes into effect from today, will continue till further notice, Grasim Industries said in an exchange filing.
The unit provides direct employment to around 5,500 people, it had said in a release in December.
"Over the years, the factory has been faced with unjustifiable labour disturbances," the release had said.
The Rishra unit also faced a flash strike in May.
The lockout will not have any material impact on the overall business of the company, the exchange filing said.
There was no reaction from the West Bengal Labour Department regarding the issue.
