Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta today submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung alleging "victimisation" of BJP legislators by AAP government and sought his intervention.
Gupta accused that BJP MLAs are "not allowed" to speak in the 70-member Assembly, which has 67 AAP legislators.
"Points of order raised by them (BJP MLAs) are ignored. They are thrown out of the Assembly as and when they try to raise their voice in the Vidhan Sabha on public issues. Committee of Privileges is being misused to muzzle their voice," he said in a statement.
Gupta said a notice was issued to him by the Deputy Secretary of Assembly Secretariat, asking him to appear before the Committee of Privileges today in the matter of breach of privilege against him for allegedly casting aspersions on the Members of the Rajya Sabha and calling for abolition of the House in a newspaper article.
He claimed that he had already tendered an unconditional apology over the matter to the Chairman, Rajya Sabha through a letter dated August 1.
In the memorandum, Gupta, MLA from Rohini, sought the LG's intervention in the matter to ensure that AAP government "functions" as per the Constitution.
