"Lt Gen Saha handed over the charge of General officer Commanding of 15 Corps to Lt Gen Dua at BadamiBagh Cantonment here," a defence spokesman said.
He said Lt Gen Saha will proceed to Army Headquarters in New Delhi to assume the challenging responsibility of the DGMO.
Lt Gen Dua, who was commissioned into the Regiment of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry in December 1979, has been associated with the soldiers and people of Jammu and Kashmir ever since he began his journey in the Army, the spokesman said.
He has been a Commando Instructor and has also represented the country as the Defence attache in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, the spokesman added.
On assuming the command, Lt Gen conveyed his greeting to the people of Kashmir and the entire Chinar Corps fraternity.
"He channelised all energies towards the betterment of Kashmiri Awaam through a two pronged approach of addressing the idea of militancy by introducing the concept of 4Es i.E Education, Empowerment, Engagement and Employment and neutralising the menace of terrorism through a robust counter infiltration grid on the Line of Control and relentless operations against the terrorists in hinterland," the spokesman said.
During his tenure, Army's contribution in the aftermath of 2014 floods will always remain etched in the conscience of the people of Kashmir, he added.
