"IOCL provided Rs 2 crore to the L V Prasad Eye Institute for the purpose of creating facilities in rural areas," Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said after handing over an approval note to the L V Prasad Eye Institute's vice-chairman Dr T P Das.
Das said LVPEI has been developing two eye care centres in tribal dominated areas of Rayagada and Rajgangpur in Sundergarh district.
While the institute has already started working on its Rayagada and Rajgangpur projects, the third one will come up at Angul in the campuses of the Nalco, said Pradhan adding the centre would request all PSUs to come forward to assist in setting up specialised eye care centres in rural areas of the state.
Pradhan said Indian Oil-LVPEI Centre for Rural Eye Health has been designed to provide solution to blindness in rural areas of Bhubaneswar.
