A case related to land encroachment was filed by a complainant against four accused with the Paithan police in 2014, DSP (ACB) Prakash Kulkarni said.
The file was sent to Assistant Director and Public Prosecutor (ADPP) office here recently asking for an opinion regarding the filing up of the charge-sheet against the accused, he said.
After learning that the file had been sent to this office, the complainant met ADPP Nandkishor Chitlange who asked him to cough up Rs 2 lakh for sending favourable opinion, ACB officials said.
Following a complaint, a trap was laid and Chitlange was caught while accepting the bribe, they said, adding investigation is underway.
