Maha Guv launches Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Collection drive
Press Trust of India Mumbai Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao today launched the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Collection drive for 2015-16 at Raj Bhawan here by making a contribution to the Flag Fund.
Stating that Armed Forces make significant contribution both during war-like situation and natural or man-made calamities, he said, the Flag Day provides the nation an opportunity to express its gratefulness towards the officers and jawans.
Speaking at the programme organised by the Collectorates of Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts, the Governor lauded the work being done by the Armed Forces in Chennai in the aftermath of the recent spell of heavy rains there, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
While mentioning that maximum recruitment in the Armed Forces came from Maharashtra, Rao felt the Flag Day should be utilised to create awareness among schools and colleges about the exciting career opportunities there.
He also expressed the need to create guidance centres at all districts to inform the youths about career opportunities in the Armed Forces and provide them training for NDA and other exams, the spokesperson said.
