A court here on Tuesday sentenced a man to 25 years in jail for repeatedly raping his teenage daughter.
District Judge (Special POCSO Act) D G Murumkar also fined the 38-year-old man, a resident of Shanti Nagar in Bhiwandi town here, Rs 10,000, additional public prosecutor Ujjwala Moholkar said.
The man would give sleeping pills to his unwell wife and then rape the victim, Moholkar said, adding that the assault took place between May 2014 and May 2016.
The victim, 16 at the time, wrote about the ordeal in a suicide note which was discovered by her mother who then approached the police.
Seven witnesses were examined in the case, Moholkar said.
