Maharashtra government has failed on all fronts: Congress

Maharashtra Congress today launched a scathing attack on the BJP-Shiv Sena government terming it as "insensitive towards farmers".
"The government has failed on all fronts. It has also failed to seek financial assistance from the Centre to tackle the prevailing drought-like situation," Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Ashok Chavan told reporters here.
"Even after the situation is going from bad to worse, the state government was yet to be allocated funds and even after two-three visits by the Central assessment team, no decision was taken by the Centre.
"This shows how the BJP government at the Centre was ill-treating its own party government in Maharashtra. There has also been rise in suicides by farmers," he said.

"To protest against all these failures, the Congress will take out a huge 'morcha' on December 8 from Deekshabhoomi to Vidhan Bhawan," Chavan, a former Chief Minister, said.
The Winter session of the State Legislature begins here on December 7.

"Farmers, farm labourers, dalits, members of other backward community, workers, women and party workers from across the state will participate in the 'morcha'", he said.
On the spat between BJP and Shiv Sena, Chavan said Sena cannot just escape from the responsibility in sharing the blame for the poor governance.
"They (Sena) are part of the government and the should share the responsibility also," the Congress leader said.

To a question, Chavan said the atmosphere for the investments in the state was not conducive and investment were not forthcoming.
