Major fire breaks out at godown in Faridabad

A major fire broke out at a godown of electronic items in the district tonight which destroyed materials worth crores of rupees.
The flames damaged an adjoining automobile service station and three shops in the vicinity, police said.
The blaze erupted at the godown of Fine Trading Company, a firm dealing in the sale of electrical appliances, they said.
The fire was doused after more than three hours, locals alleged.
According to eyewitness accounts, the first fire tender reached the spot of fire after more than two hours.
"Since fire tenders were not in the sight anywhere, we started removing our stocks from the burning shop, leading to some injuries," said Rooplal, a shopkeeper.

He said that it was the local police that arranged an earthmover to break open the shutter of the godown.

Owner of the company, Shyam Sunder alleged that fire department is responsible for the loss of properties.
"The fire department is totally responsible for the loss of properties worth crores of rupees. Had it responded well in time, the fire could have been kept limited to one area only," he said.
Inspector Jai Prakash, SHO Ballabgarh Police Station, said that as soon as they were informed of the fire, they vacated the adjoining shops and houses to save any loss of life.

The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, added the officer.
Rajesh Agrawal, President Faridabad Electric Trade Dealers association said, "The loss of properties is a result of negligence on the part of Fire Department."
He said the association would be moving courts to take action against the erring officials of the fire department.
