: A 30-year old male elephant was found dead on a railway track in Kerala, at a spot about seven km near the Tamil Nadu border early this morning, police said.
Some people noticed the carcass between Walayar and Vattaparai in Kerala and informed forest department officials, who rushed to the spot with police.
The body of the tusker was later removed.
Police suspect that the elephant might have been hit by a train proceeding to Palakkad from this city.
