West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today accused the BJP and its sister organisations of distorting her views and opinions and misleading the people by using fake accounts on social media.
Without naming the BJP, she alleged in a Facebook post, "In the recent past, one section of religious group, belonging to a political party ruling at the Centre and also in the name of their sister organisations and others (either using real or fictitious names) are distorting my views, opinions, sayings and thus misleading people with my photos through some fake accounts."
"I strongly condemn such scandalous activities by the so-called Hindu zealots. These type of communal forces, with their political vendetta, are maligning people," she alleged.
"The members of minority communities, SC, ST, OBC, backward communities, general class and women are not being spared. I'm sorry to say that the current situation is a horrifying signal of the dark future of our country in their hands," she claimed.
"They cannot fight the battle politically and also on developmental front with me. So they are launching personal attack and hate campaign through social media," Banerjee claimed.
"But this is not the reality. One cannot fool people all the time. Ultimately, the truth will prevail everywhere," she said.
"We do not need lessons on Hinduism from them. Hinduism is universal and it teaches us religious tolerance. Hindu religion is not the monopoly of the so-called Hindus. We are proud of Hindu religion and all religions as well," the Trinamool Congress supremo said in her post.
