Kapil Chaudhary, 26, was arrested from Mohan Garden yesterday. Besides, fake SIM cards, four mobile phones, a huge data of potential victims who use credit cards with names, addresses and mobile numbers of 3000 people, was recovered from his possession, DCP (South East) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.
In a recent case, the accused had withdrawn Rs 10,000 from the account of a CR Park resident by duping her to reveal her credit card details on the pretext of redeeming her reward points.
During interrogation he confessed to cheating more than 700 people to the tune of several lakh rupees in the last 6 months. Efforts are on to trace his associates who were actively involved in the crime, he said.
