Man arrested for beating his mother to death in Jammu

A person was arrested for allegedly beating his mother to death here, police said today.
The police in Satwari area had received an information that a woman identified as Rani, a resident of Narwal Pain, was murdered by her son after consuming liquor, a police officer said.
The son, identified as Mohammad Altaf, used to force his mother to consume liquor and then used to assault her, he said.
On July 15, Altaf again forced his mother to consume liquor and started beating her, due to which she received serious head injuries and rupture of internal organ. She died on the spot, the officer said quoting the postmortem report.

A case was registered at Police Station Satwari and investigations were underway which led to the arrest of the accused yesterday, he said.
