A man was arrested for allegedly trying to sell his 10-month-old son and the baby was rescued from him at Defence Colony of Malerkotla near here, police said today.
SP Jaswinder Singh said the man wrapped the baby in a cloth and took away to sell him to a woman yesterday morning.
Having found the baby missing, his mother filed a complaint with police, who swung into action and rescued him.
Singh said the man had been pressing his wife to sell the baby for financial consideration.
Police have started investigations to trace the woman, the SP said.
