The crime branch of Mumbai police today claimed to have cracked the murder case of a five-year-old boy in 24-hours by arresting his uncle.
The boy was found murdered at Wadala TT in Central Mumbai yesterday.
The 23-year-old accused, who is the younger brother of the deceased boy's father, was arrested today by Unit-4 of the Crime Branch, said police.
During his interrogation, the accused revealed that he had strained relations with his elder brother and that was the reason behind the murder of the boy, said police.
The boy had gone missing on Thursday night from Shantinagar area of Antop hill in the jurisdiction of Wadala TT police station, a police official said.
On the complaint of his family members initially an offence of kidnapping was registered against unidentified persons. But, as the police recovered his body the next day an offence of murder was registered against unidentified persons.
During the course of investigation police got suspicious about the deceased's uncle and started investigating about his whereabouts on the day the boy went missing, an official said.
It was revealed that the sour relationship between child's father and uncle was the reason behind the murder, he said.
