The estimated value of the seized heroin has been pegged at Rs one crore in the international market.
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials identified the individual as one Saroj Tandi, a resident of Sangam Vihar in the national capital.
Sources involved in the operation said NCB intercepted a consignment of ladies handbags being couriered to Indonesia from a shop in Mahipalpur and detected 450gms of heroin hidden inside designer rings.
On pursuing further, Tandi was apprehended and his interrogation led to the seizure of another such consignment, which had 460gms of heroin and was being smuggled out using a similar modus operandi.
Tandi has been sent to judicial custody by a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court here, they said.
