Anandi Lal, a labourer, was booked after his 20-year-old daughter-in-law lodged an FIR against him yesterday for attempting to rape her, they said.
According to her complaint, Lal tried to rape her on Saturday when his son was out for work, but she managed to escape.
The accused has been missing after the victim lodged complaint, police said, adding, efforts are on to nab him.
In a separate incident, four persons forcibly entered the house of a 35-year-old woman, beat her up and tried to rape her in Bassi town on Saturday, police said.
Three of the accused were identified as Mangilal, Rampal and Raghunath, he said, adding that search was on for them.
