Man crushed under train, friend injured

A 25-year old man was crushed under the wheels of a train near Mandawli railway station and his friend seriously injured when they were crossing the track, police said today.
The victims have been identified as Danny (deceased) and Rahul, both residents of Railway Colony area in Ghaziabad. The incident took place on Tuesday night when the duo were crossing the railway track.
Eyewitnesses claimed both of them had the earphones plugged at the time of the incident.
"They were sitting near the tracks and engrossed in a conversation before walking to cross the tracks. People also screamed to alert them but as earphones were plugged, they did not hear," they claimed.

Both were rushed to a nearby hospital by police where Danny was declared brought dead while Rahul's condition is stated to be critical," said a police official.
The driver of the train tried applying brakes but due to the speed of the train failed to do so, said police.
