Man dies in police custody; SHO suspended, probe ordered

A 32-year-old man, who was apprehended over an incident of theft, died in police custody prompting authorities to suspend in-charge of Usrahar police station in the district today.
Shaukin Singh, who was detained on theft charge, died yesterday in the police station.
Later, alleging police atrocities as the reason behind the Singh's death, his kin and people of Kudrail village started a sit-in outside the police station with the dead body.
SHO Bharat Pandey was placed under suspension today.
SP Nilabaja Chowdhury suspended the officer and ordered a probe into the matter by Circle officer, sources said.
