Varadharaj suffered serious injuries and died on the spot when his neighbour-friend Lokanathan attempted to beat the Rottweiler dog with a club after it bit him badly yesterday, police said.
Lokanathan, wanted by Police, today surrendered before Judicial Magistrate Zakira Banu who remanded him to Judicial custody for 15 days.
Police said Lokanathan, Varadharaj and another friend Ravi had consumed liquor together and the former had allegedly teased the dog. The enraged Rottweiler dog bit Lokanathan causing deep teeth injuries.
Varadharajan, who attempted to save the dog from getting hit, suffered injuries in the attack and died on the spot.
Police yesterday arrested six persons, including Ravi, who supported Lokanathan in the drunken brawl.
