The body of a man in his thirties was found in the Dwarka area of Delhi with police saying that the case appears to be one of murder.
According to police, a PCR call was received at around 1:50 A.M. On Thursday about a body lying in a secluded area of Dwarka Sector 16. Passersby had spotted the body lying among the bushes and informed police.
"It appears that the man was first strangled and then bludgeoned to death. His identity has not been established till now," police said, adding that a case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unknown persons.
"The body has been sent for a post-mortem," they added.
Police said prima facie it appears that the man was first robbed and then murdered as any belongings of the deceased were not found at the spot.
"He has strangulation marks and injuries on his face, neck, leg and back. We are asking the locals and trying to establish his identity.
"Some of the locals have claimed that he worked as a driver. However, that is yet to be verified," police said.
