Additional Sessions Judge Rohitlal Panda pronounced the order yesterday sentencing Sudam Malik to death for murdering Niranjan Malik with a spade when he was buying medicines for his son on January 22, 2012.
Prior to that Sudam had tried to outrage the modesty of Niranjan's wife while she was sleeping in her house at Narharipur 15 days ago on January 7.
Although the woman could save herself by raising an alarm, Sudam had threatened her with dire consequence if she disclosed the matter to others. The woman, however, told the incident to her husband which led to a quarrel between the two.
