Special Judge Vimlesh Tanwar ordered the sentence after convicting the accused, Bhushan, who had over two-years-ago raped a woman of village Babial after giving her a soft drink laced with sedative.
Bhushan, a resident of Karnal, had also threatened the victim with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to her relatives.
The victim had approached the police with her complaint against the accused on January 5, 2011, after which a case was registered against Bhushan.
